How to Get There
The Eagle as a Symbol of God's Work in Your Life
Many people sense deep questions intuitively: Is there a God? Can I have a meaningful relationship filled with love, joy, and purpose? What is the purpose of my life?
A completely transformed life is available to anyone willing to let God lead them to it. Scripture uses the eagle as a powerful picture of the relationship God desires with us.
God describes His work in a person's life using the eagle. Eagle wings represent His protection, training, and life-changing power. The eagle teaches its young to fly, catching them on its wings when they fall and guiding them to soar to new heights. Like young eagles, people often prefer the familiar "nest" where needs are met and security feels real — yet it can be deceptive. When the time is right, the parents remove the soft lining and urge the young to leave the nest and discover true flight.
Like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft. The Lord alone led him; no foreign god was with him. He made him ride on the heights of the land and fed him with the fruit of the fields...
— Deuteronomy 32:11–13 (paraphrased)
They were given the two wings of a great eagle, so that they might fly to the place prepared for them in the wilderness...
— Revelation 12:14 (paraphrased)
The Lord uses this imagery to show how He trains and protects His children in the face of spiritual challenges. The wings of the eagle represent God's way of carrying us to a place of refuge, growth, and closeness with Him. He wants to bring each person to a secure place where they experience His love and authority. To those who enter this relationship, He gives "wings" that enable them to live strong in faith and become the person He created them to be.
